Suspect held following felony fragrance theft, Friday

Madison, Tennessee

Shortly before 7 pm, Friday, Franklin Police Officers were summoned to the CoolSprings Macy’s after store security apprehended a shoplifter they caught fleeing with nearly $3,000 in shoplifted cologne and perfume.

Gerardo Marquez, 53, of Madison, remains behind bars today, charged with Felony Theft. Franklin Police are working to identify Marquez’s accomplice who managed to get away from security during Marquez’s capture.

Beware: Fraudulent callers pretending to be the Health Department

The Williamson County Health Department has reported receiving complaints from multiple citizens stating that they received a call from someone pretending to be with the Health Department. The scammer attempts to obtain personal information, claiming it is needed for Medicare.

If you receive such a call, simply hang up. If you believe you have been a victim, and shared sensitive information with the fraudulent caller — contact police.
