Registered sex offender arrested after detective spots him in local park

A Franklin Police Detective who was recently at a Franklin park took note of someone else who wasn’t supposed to be. The detective followed up and determined that Howard Anderson, a convicted sex offender, is prohibited from being in places like the park, so she got a warrant and arrested him.

Anderson was arrested earlier this week and charged with Violation of the Sex Offender Registry, a Class-E Felony. He was released from jail after posting the $1,500 bond set by the Magistrate. Anderson is due in court on December 21.

Suspect who exposed himself to teen worker in Berry Farms drive-thru identified, charged

Thanks to help from the public, the suspect who exposed himself to a teen worker in the Chick-fil-A drive-thru at Berry Farms has been identified.

Last night, Detectives charged 48-year-old Robert Rawson of unincorporated Franklin with Indecent Exposure. He is due in court on August 4.

This is a disturbing case, and one that has Franklin Police & Crime Stoppers offering a cash reward to anyone who can help ID the suspect.

At dinnertime on May 4, the man in this video exposed himself to a teen worker in the Chick-fil-A drive-thru at Berry Farms. The white male suspect was driving the gold-colored car seen in this video. It had faded paint and a worn, dented exterior.

Missing Child Alert: Franklin Police need your help to find 8-year-old boy

8:45 pm: UPDATE | “Lyle” has been safely located. Triplett has been arrested.

Franklin Police are asking for the public’s help to find an 8-year-old boy who is believed to be in danger.

Paul “Lyle” Sykes is believed to be his mother, Bethany Triplett, in a black Toyota Avalon 4-door with the Tennessee license plate 7W6 307.

This missing child alert comes after Triplett fled from her Franklin home this afternoon, with Sykes, during an active police investigation. Detectives fear that he may now be in danger.

Franklin man indicted on multiple sex charges involving children

 

Samuel Sylvester, 50, of Franklin, was arrested on 12/06/2019 following a multiple-count Grand Jury indictment on sex charges involving two children, 12 and 16.

Franklin Police began investigating Sylvester after a client he worked with as a music producer came forward with disturbing allegations.

Charged with x7 counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, x7 counts of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure, Aggravated Sexual Battery, and x2 counts of Rape of a Child, Sylvester was released after posting a $200,000 bond. Neither victim is related to Sylvester and the children have no connection to one another.

Because Sylvester has worked with children throughout the years, detectives are concerned there could be other victims. Anyone with information should contact Franklin Police.

Detectives still seeking tips on I-65 attacker; $5,000 reward

$5,000.00 Reward for Information 

Franklin Police have poured through more than 200 tips but are still seeking information about the March 24 attack of a 16-year-old girl. At about 8:20 pm, the teen pulled over on I-65 S, between Cool Springs Boulevard and McEwen Drive after her tire went flat. As she stood outside of her vehicle, waiting for her dad who was on his way to help, the attacker depicted in this sketch accosted the teen from behind, pulling her down the hill and into the ditch between I-65 S and the back side of the Mallory Lane Sam’s Club.

The teenager was able to break free and escape an apparent sexual assault attempt. The suspect fled on foot into the I-65 woodline and remains at large. Police are looking for a tall white male with dingy brown teeth and a medium build. He is believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s. The suspect had a “dirty-blonde” beard, and looked like he had not shaven other areas of his face for several days. The suspect is believed to be about 6 feet tall. The teen was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Parents jailed after infant seriously injured

A convicted felon remains jailed after seriously injuring his one-and-a-half-month-old baby boy. Officers responded to 101 Johnson Circle on March 26. A relative in the home called 9-1-1 when they noticed the baby not breathing. First responders performed CPR and were able to save the baby. His condition improved during a hospital stay.

Investigators determined that the baby’s father, 28-year-old Demarcus Helm, was responsible for the extensive injuries. Facts uncovered during a multi-layer investigation were presented to a Grand Jury. Helm and the baby’s mother, 21-year-old Tytianna Jones, were ultimately arrested on May 18.

Helm, charged with x2 counts of Aggravated Child Abuse is being held on a $50,000 bond. He is due in court on May 31 at 9:00 am. Jones, who lied to investigators during her initial statements about the baby’s injuries, was charged with Child Endangerment and Accessory After the Fact. She is being held on a $25,000 bond. A court date has not yet been set for Jones. Since being released from the hospital, the baby has remained in the care and custody of the Department of Children Services.
