One charged in attempted carjacking, shooting

Franklin Police have charged one of the suspects involved in Sunday’s attempted carjacking and shooting at the Dwell at McEwen apartments.

Murfreesboro, TN

Joshua Hallmon, 24 of Murfreesboro has been charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Carjacking, being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

Hallmon is currently in custody in Rutherford County on similar charges out of Murfreesboro. He is a convicted felon with a serious criminal history.

Detectives are working to identify and arrest the second suspect in this case.

Connecticut Sex Offender charged with new crimes in Franklin

Age: 28
Franklin, Tennessee

On Wednesday, detectives arrested a registered sex offender from Connecticut who had been living in, but failed to register his presence in Franklin, since March. His conviction in Connecticut was related to a sex crime against a minor. Joseph Antonio Gonzalez Rodriguez, charged by Franklin Police with failing to register was released on the $75,000 bond set by the Magistrate.

Detectives returned to his Murfreesboro Road condo yesterday and re-arrested Rodriguez, charging him with Statutory Rape, after discovering he had sex with at least one Franklin minor since arriving in Tennessee. Rodriguez is back behind bars on a $100,000 bond. He is due in court on August 4.

Cash reward offered for ID of Galleria grab-and-go thieves

Franklin Police and Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who can identify these thieves.

On Monday afternoon they grabbed more than $2,000 worth of clothing at the Cool Springs Macy’s and then ran out the door. They fled at a high rate of speed in this gray Toyota Corolla.

Franklin Police investigating after attempted carjacking, shooting

Franklin Police are investigating after an attempted Sunday night carjacking at the Dwell at McEwen apartments.

At 11:45 pm, two black males approached the victim and ordered him out of his vehicle. One of the suspects fired a shot into the vehicle as the victim began backing away. Thankfully, the victim was not struck by gunfire. The suspects fled in a white 4-door car and remain at large.

Apartment residents who may have seen something or have personal home surveillance cameras with exterior views are asked to contact Franklin Police.

Driver facing multiple charges following Friday morning DUI crash

Columbia, TN

Shortly after 2:00 am, Friday, officers were summoned to the 300 block of Lewisburg Pike for a single-vehicle crash.

Arriving officers found the wrecked vehicle abandoned and the driver, 29-year-old Weston Barrett, running away from the scene. Officers determined that Barrett was impaired and arrested him.

Charged with DUI, Evading Arrest, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Failure to Report a Crash, and Violation of the Implied Consent Law, Barrett is free on the $5,500 bond set by the Magistrate. He is due in court on November 11.

Police investigating two armed robberies in Cool Springs

The first robbery happened Tuesday night at the Galleria Boulevard Taco Bell. Two black males arrived in a black Nissan Altima at around 10:00 pm, shortly before the restaurant was scheduled to close.

They announced the robbery as they entered. One of the robbers began threatening employees with a gun. They ordered everyone to the ground before separating the manager from the other employees, ordering him to surrender the restaurant’s cash.

No one was injured during that robbery.


Then, at around 10:30 Wednesday night, a resident at the IMT Cool Springs Apartments on Gillespie Drive was in the parking lot when he was approached from behind and struck in the head.

The assailant beat and shot at the victim during the robbery. Thankfully, the victim was not struck by gunfire. The suspect fled on foot and remains at large.

Apartment residents with personal home surveillance cameras are asked to check their footage for anything that might help to identify a suspect.


Detectives do not believe the two robberies are related and are asking anyone with information in either case to call Crime Stoppers.

Suspect wanted on serious charges following brazen getaway

Franklin Police & Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who can identify this suspect. 

He fled from a traffic stop in downtown Franklin early Thursday morning. The suspect was driving a black, newer model Infiniti 2-door with temporary tags. 

Two police officers and a citizen were nearly struck during his brazen getaway. This suspect is now wanted for Felony Evading and Aggravated Assault.
