Murder investigation continues in Franklin; $5,000 reward for information

The investigation continues into the shooting that killed 26-year-old Jamarcus Esmon, of Franklin, last weekend.

Officers responded to Edgewood Boulevard at 2:07 Saturday morning after area residents reported hearing gunfire. Officers found Esmon on the ground outside. He had been shot several times. Despite the lifesaving measures taken by responding patrol officers, Esmon died at the scene. Our hearts are with his family.

Franklin Police are urging anyone in the area with home surveillance cameras to check their recordings for anything that might help with the investigation.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information
that leads detectives to Esmon’s killer.

Franklin Police investigating shooting homicide

At 2:07 Saturday morning, officers responded to a shooting call on Edgewood Boulevard after area residents reported hearing gunfire. Officers found the victim, a 26-year-old Franklin man, on the ground outside. He had been shot multiple times. Arriving officers worked to save the victim’s life, but he died at the scene.

Though suspect information and a motive is not immediately clear, Detectives are piecing the scene together and working to develop suspect information.

Franklin Police are urging area residents with security cameras to check for footage that might help with the investigation. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Franklin Police investigating racial graffiti vandalism outside local elementary school

Franklin Police are investigating after someone wrote a racial slur on the Hunters Bend Elementary sign outside the Fieldstone Farms neighborhood school. The word, written in blue chalk, was quickly removed.

While the graffiti was easy to remove, it left a painful mark on school staffers and neighborhood residents. Franklin Police & Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.

Franklin man killed in single-vehicle crash, Wednesday morning

Franklin Police are investigating after a man was killed in a single-car crash, Wednesday morning. An officer on patrol discovered the crash on N. Carothers Pkwy. shortly after 4:00 a.m. The wrecked vehicle was unoccupied and a man, apparently ejected from the vehicle, was found deceased nearby. He has been identified as 37-year-old Chantel Britman, of Franklin.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Britman’s 2010 Lexus was traveling north on N. Carothers, between Ovation Pkwy. and Southstar Dr. when, for reasons unknown, it struck the curb and traveled up an embankment, rolling over several times.

The Franklin Police Department is saddened by the Britman family’s tragic loss.

Caught on camera: Police investigating after home surveillance cameras catch auto burglars making their rounds in a quiet Franklin neighborhood

 

Franklin Police are investigating after a group of auto burglars was caught on camera in Westhaven. Home surveillance video shows the suspects checking car door handles & rifling through unlocked vehicles. These burglars simply moved on every time they encountered a locked car.

Franklin Police want to stress the importance of locking your car door, even when it’s parked in your own driveway. As seen in this video, doing the #9PMRoutine can greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim.

Wanted for Aggravated Assault: Patrick Petway; Cash reward for information

Update: June 8, 2020: Petway has been arrested and is in custody. 

June 6, 2020, Franklin, TN — Franklin Police are searching for 48-year-old Patrick Petway.

Friday night, Petway stabbed a man in the chest during an argument on Natchez St. The victim is in stable condition. Petway may be driving a white Buick.
