On June 20, 2018, a Blue Star Flag was raised at Franklin Police Headquarters to honor Officer Steve Chittanavong, who had been deployed to southwest Asia. At a special ceremony, this morning, Chief Deborah Faulkner and members of the Franklin Police Department retired that flag, welcoming the officer home.
“We are grateful to have Officer Chittanavong home, and proud of his service to our Country and community,” said Chief Deborah Faulkner. More than 30% of the Franklin Police Department is made up of US Military Veterans.
Officer Chittanavong said, “I’m so thankful for the support from back home while I was away. It’s great to be back with my family, and serving the Franklin community again.” Officer Chittanavong was sworn-in as a Franklin Police Officer on January 12, 2017.
The Blue Star Flag honors active-duty military members serving during a period of war or hostilities.
