Franklin Police Officer Steve Chittanavong among nine TN police officers deploying to Southwest Asia to support enduring U.S. interests

The Franklin Police Department is proud to have one of nine local police officers soon deploying to Southwest Asia with the 118th Security Forces Squadron of the Tennessee Air National Guard. Franklin Police Officer Steve Chittanavong will provide law enforcement services to protect high-value assets abroad, in support of enduring U.S. interests.

“Our airmen have been working to get ready for this deployment and their knowledge and abilities are unique,” said Col. Keith Allbritten, 118th Wing Commander. “Both their civilian and guard jobs have prepared them for this deployment. We have nine security forces airmen deploying that are full-time police officers. We are thankful to their communities and police departments for letting them serve their nation at home and abroad.”

Officer Chittanavong was sworn in as a Franklin Police Officer on January 12, 2017. “The Department has been nothing but good to me since I have been with them,” said Chittanavong. “They are very supportive of the military and I know they are there with open arms if my family needs assistance while I am away.”

The Franklin Police Department recently raised a Blue Star Flag in honor of the husband, father, and Franklin Police Officer. Chief Deborah Faulkner said, “I am proud of Officer Chittanavong’s service to our City, its citizens, and our Country. We look forward to retiring that flag when he returns safely home.” More than 30% of Franklin Police employees are U.S. Military Veterans.
