At 2:20 this morning, an officer attempted to stop a car on Murfreesboro Road near downtown Franklin. The driver ran a red light and a stop sign while attempting to evade the officer, before crashing into an electrical box near 501 5th Avenue N.
The driver and a second suspect fled from the vehicle and into a nearby wood line. A Williamson County Sheriff’s canine tracked the driver, 20-year-old Nathan Kifle, to Mt. Hope Street where he was hiding in some bushes. Officers are working to identify the second suspect who managed to get away.
Officers ordered a third suspect, 20-year-old Emmanuel Wol of Antioch, from the wrecked car. Property that was stolen during a recent rash of Franklin auto burglaries was found inside the vehicle.
Officers charged Kifle with Felony Evading, Misdemeanor Evading, Improper Display of Registration, Disregarding a Traffic Signal, Disregarding a Stop Sign, Drug Possession, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Stolen Property, Underage Possession of Alcohol, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Failure to Report a Crash, and Felony Vandalism. He is being held in the Williamson County Jail on the $33,000 bond set by the Magistrate.
Franklin Police charged Wol with Underage Possession of Alcohol, Drug Possession, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Stolen Property. He remains jailed on the $10,500 bond set by the Magistrate. Both suspects are due in court on July 12 at 1:00 pm. Wol was wanted by Metro Police for Robbery at the time of his arrest in Franklin.
