A warning to Monday morning gym goers as Franklin Police investigate string of smash & grab car break-ins at local Y

Purse in Car IIFranklin Police are investigating four auto burglaries that occurred at the Royal Oaks YMCA Thursday morning. In each case, victims reported parking their vehicle between 6:50 and 7am, only to find their windows smashed out and valuables stolen, when they returned. The suspects are three black males in a newer model, dark-colored Cadillac with chrome trim.

Thieves know that, in most cases, people visiting fitness centers, parks, and daycares often leave their briefcases and purses behind. Suspects are often in place and watching you arrive. When they see you get out and go in empty-handed, or see you stow valuables in your trunk and walk away, they quickly move in, and break in.

Franklin Police warn gym, park, and daycare patrons to be vigilant. You should take valuables with you, and avoid leaving them behind and visible in your vehicle.
