A Memphis driver is in serious trouble after fleeing the scene of an I-65 rollover crash that left a woman seriously injured.
At 8:30 Monday night, officers were dispatched to I-65 S, south of Murfreesboro Road, after a reckless driver ran a Spring Hill woman off the road and then fled the scene. The suspect forced the victim’s vehicle into the retaining wall where it crashed and overturned. The suspect struck a second vehicle during the incident, but that driver was not injured.
Franklin Police issued an alert to surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle. Lewisburg Police found the vehicle a short time later, wrecked out and abandoned at Exit 32. Franklin and Lewisburg Police worked together to determine that the driver was 36-year-old Santhanou Xayadeth of Memphis.
Franklin Police obtained warrants, charging Xayadeth with Reckless Endangerment, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Failure to Report a Crash, and Driving on a Suspended License – 2nd Offense.
Officers determined that Xayadeth had, since the crashes in Franklin and in Lewisburg, been arrested in Rutherford County, where he is currently being held on unrelated charges. Upon his release from the Rutherford County Jail, Xayadeth will be remanded to custody in Williamson County to face misdemeanor and felony charges in Franklin. Xayadeth is a convicted felon with a violent history.
