An in-depth investigation by Franklin Police has resulted in the arrest of two local attorneys. Franklin Police Narcotics and Vice Detectives arrested Georgia Felner and Sandra Wells today after Grand Jury indictments were handed down in the case. After corroborating information that Felner and Wells were dealing drugs, Franklin Police Detectives purchased drugs from both attorneys in an undercover operation.
“Both of these suspects were trusted members of the criminal justice system,” said Chief Deborah Faulkner.
“This case is particularly disappointing because of the close working relationship and trust that the criminal justice community had with both defendants. The Department is especially thankful for the assistance and support provided to us in this investigation by District Attorney General Kim Helper’s Office.”
Both private practice attorneys previously worked for the District Attorney’s Office. Felner was an Assistant District Attorney from 2001-2007. Wells worked as a DUI Coordinator for 14 months, starting in 2006.
Felner was charged with (1) Sale of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance and (2) Delivery of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance. Wells was charged with (1) Sale of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance and (2) Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell or Deliver. All of the charges are felonies. Bond was set for both defendants at $7,500.
