FPD statement on Wednesday morning school bus crash

Posted by Lieutenant Charles Warner on December 14, 2016
Posted in: Media Release, Update.

bus-crashAt 8:17am, emergency responders were dispatched to a 3-vehicle injury crash involving a Williamson County school bus. All 49 children aboard were evaluated by paramedics. Two students were found to have very minor injuries that did not require additional medical attention. They were released to their parents at the scene. Children who were not picked up by concerned parents, who arrived at the scene after getting word of the crash, were loaded onto another bus and transported to school.

Investigating Officers determined that a westbound motorist was stopped and waiting to turn left from Highway 96 on to Front Street; the school bus was stopped directly behind. The westbound motorist turned left in front of oncoming eastbound traffic and was struck, head-on. That westbound vehicle was spun 180 degrees and then had a secondary collision with the stationary school bus. The drivers of both passenger vehicles were evaluated at the scene for minor injuries. No one involved in this crash was transported to the hospital. No charges have been filed. The crash scene cleared moments ago and the roadway has been reopened.
