The 4-year-old girl who was hit by an SUV last night remains hospitalized, in stable condition. The child was waiting at the curb with her father, Thursday at 5:53 pm, when she unexpectedly darted into traffic. After clearing the westbound lane of Liberty Pike, the girl was struck by a vehicle traveling east, near the intersection of Liberty Pike and Brick Path Lane.

Investigating officers say that the driver of the SUV that hit the child clearly did everything he could to avoid hitting her. No charges are expected to be filed in this unfortunate accident.

In our initial release, the driver was listed as a woman; this was in error, the driver of the vehicle was a Franklin man.
