Franklin Police Detective Richard Spaulding has been named Officer of the Month for his work on June 18, 2015 that resulted in the immediate capture of a bank robbery suspect.

As part of an anti-burglary operation initiated by Chief Faulkner, Detective Spaulding was patrolling nearby neighborhoods when he spotted a bank robbery suspect who had just attempted to rob the Fifth Third Bank at Fieldstone Farms. Spaulding surreptitiously tailed the suspect’s getaway vehicle while backup units closed in to help make the arrest.

The Franklin Police Department is proud to partner with Franklin Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram, who awarded $150 to Detective Spaulding. Detective Spaulding, in turn, is donating the money to his favorite charity: Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, specifically for pediatric cancer research.

Detective Spaulding has served on the Franklin Police Department since 2002. Franklin Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram General Manager Leo Linkov honored Detective Spaulding with a plaque today at Police Headquarters.

  1. Please express my sincere thanks to Detective  Spaulding for his exceptional service to our City. This is another example of the daily events in Franklin where our Police Officers are involved in keeping us safe.

Just today, a grandmother told me of her grandchild’s car accident and the kindness shown to her by one of our  officers. Episodes such as this are what make our Franklin Police Department so special.

I am so grateful to each of our men and women who serve us each day. They are the BEST!!!!!!!
