Franklin Police have positively identified the suspect in last Thursday afternoon’s burglary, where a young boy and his grandmother were inside of the home the suspect broke into. Shortly after 4pm, the child reported that he was inside of the home in the 3000 block of Liberty Hills Drive with his disabled grandmother, and that someone was breaking into the house. After the suspect gained entry and realized that someone was home, he fled in a red Jeep Cherokee.
Two days later, a citizen tip led Metro Police to 29-year-old serial burglary suspect David Center after he broke into a home on Sawyer Brown Road in Nashville. A neighbor reported seeing Center run from the residence late that afternoon, and drive off in a Jeep Cherokee. Officers located Center a short time later. During an interview, Center admitted to the burglary. He said he was looking for prescription medication. Metro Police charged Center in three break-ins; he is suspected in four others.
Franklin Detectives interviewed Center yesterday; he admitted to the burglary in Liberty Hills, and another in the 900 block of Calib Court in Franklin. Center admitted that he was the one a homeowner at another Franklin home challenged after he tried opening the homeowner’s back gate prior to committing the Liberty Hills Burglary.
Center is currently in custody in the Metro Jail, and has multiple charges pending in Franklin. Police say that news stories about the Liberty Hills burglary, and Center’s Nashville arrest were helpful in quickly identifying him as the suspect in the Franklin burglaries.
