Saturday night, 03/14/2015, the Franklin Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Murfreesboro Road near Downtown.

In addition to this checkpoint, Franklin Police are adding officers this weekend through St. Patrick’s Day night with the sole purpose of detecting and arresting impaired drivers. “Anyone who plans on drinking over St. Patrick’s Day weekend better not drive,” said Chief Deborah Faulkner. “If they do, they’ll spend the rest of their night with us.”

In 2014, the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office awarded the Department with a $50,000 grant to use for anti-DUI initiatives including DUI checkpoints, saturation patrols, training, equipment, and overtime for officers working this checkpoint.
