The investigation into who posted a message on Twitter about blowing up a school continues. Franklin Police were contacted by property management from Westhaven, this morning, and advised of the threat. The threatening tweet sent to @WesthavenSLC, Thursday night, referenced ‘blowing up the school tomorrow.’ No particular school, however, was mentioned and the tweet was not seen by Westhaven management until this morning.
In an abundance of caution, Williamson County Schools made the decision to evacuate Pearre Creek Elementary, located in the subdivision. After a sweep of the school by Franklin Police and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, students returned to class.
Police determined that the person who tweeted the threat to Westhaven tweeted a similar threat to a school in Pennsylvania that did not come to fruition. Franklin Police and Williamson County Sheriff’s Office officials determined that the threat in Franklin was a hoax.
Franklin Police remain in close communication with Pennsylvania investigators in the ongoing effort to identify the suspect.
