Franklin, TN – During a show last night at the Grand Ole Opry, the Spirit of Blue Foundation presented a safety equipment grant to the Franklin Police Department. The grant will be used to purchase 17 new helmets for SWAT.

Funds were raised in conjunction with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at their five store locations in the Greater Nashville area. The grant was formally presented to the Franklin Police Department during a special law enforcement appreciation segment on the stage of the Opry on August 19th. Craig Morgan, the Spirit of Blue’s celebrity spokesperson, performed during the segment and participated in the presentation of the grant.

Franklin Police Chief Deborah Faulkner, SWAT Commander Brian Woodward, and Officer Rachel Gober joined Morgan on stage to receive the grant made possible by the fundraiser. “We are so grateful to Spirit of Blue, their partners, and everyone who so generously made this possible,” said Chief Faulkner. “With this grant, we will increase the level of safety for the men and women our community depends on for protection. Keeping those police officers safe is important to a lot of people, especially the families who wait for them to come home every night.”

The Spirit of Blue Foundation is a 501©3 non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of officer safety and vitality throughout the law enforcement community by promoting public awareness for their protection and fulfilling safety and equipment needs.
